The Glen Bott Collection of English Watercolours
This collection of watercolours was purchased out of a monetary bequest
to Nottingham University by Miss Margaret Glen Bott, who died in 1969. Most
of the paintings were purchased in the early 1970s, though a few additions
were made later. The collection now comprises 26 works and includes representative
examples from artists of the Romantic period such as David Cox, Samuel Prout,
Peter de Wint and John Varley, as well as notable pieces from the later nineteenth
century by artists such as Myles Birket Foster, Edward Lear and George John
Pinwell. The twentieth century is represented by Samuel John ‘Lamorna’ Birch,
Adrian Bury, Charles Ginner, Henry Rushbury and Christopher Wood.
