University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham art collection consists of some 526 items covering a broad range of subjects and media which have been acquired through purchase, gift and bequest. The works are distributed across the four main campuses at Nottingham in academic schools, halls of residence and principal administration buildings. There is no permanent gallery or storage space for the collection; the Djanogly Art Gallery, the university-funded art gallery at Lakeside Arts Centre, is a temporary exhibition space organising a year-round programme of contemporary and historic loan exhibitions. For further information on the programme see www.lakesidearts.org.uk
The three principal coherent collections included within the whole are the Newcastle
Bequest (of which the largest concentration is displayed in Trent Building);
the Glen Bott Bequest of watercolours stored at the Djanogly Art Gallery and
used as a teaching resource by the History of Art department; and the Lakeside
Arts Centre collection displayed in the Arts Centre and Music department.
Documentation of the collections currently exists as an unpublished skeleton
catalogue held by the Visual Arts Officer at the Djanogly Art Gallery.
In 2008, the oil and acrylic paintings will be published as a catalogue
and website by the Public Catalogue Foundation www.thepcf.org.uk
